How to: Cheesy Sautéed Mushrooms on Toast

This easy cheesy Sautéed Mushrooms on toast is the perfect breakfast, lunch or even a quick dinner recipe. It’s super quick to make can be made vegan if you omit the cheese or use a vegan alternative. 

It’s easy, quick and cheap to make. The caramelised mushroom mix would also go really well on a steak or as a burger topping. This creamy mushroom on toast recipe is delicious.

Recipe

  • 1 Red Onion finely sliced
  • 300 – 500g Irish Mushrooms ( you can pick a variety of different mushrooms also) 
  • 3 garlic cloves crushed
  • Bunch of Parsley
  • Handful of grated cheese of your choosing
  • Bread – we choose MMMs Traditional Bread
  • Juice from half a lemon
  •  1 tsp Chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp oregano

Method

  • Heat large frying pan over high heat. Add tbsp olive oil
  • Add mushrooms and onions and fry for 5 minutes until tender and well browned all over
  • Add garlic, herbs and chilli flakes. Cook 1 – 2 minutes
  • Add butter and lemon juice and stir
  • Add a handful of cheese and mix throughout until melted. Season and take off the heat
  • Serve on toast. Optional – spread cream on toast first
  • Garnish with fresh parsley
